  These rules are for reference only, for “Official CSPL Rules”, please refer to rules as handed out in team package. For basic version of Rules, please refer to CSPL League Basic Rules For SPN rules refer to the current Slo-Pitch National 2012 Rulebook.  
   
  New Rules for SPN (ONTARIO) 2012 (as per SPN rule changes)
 
Coed playing field a defensive line of arc of 175 feet
from home plate
shall be used. No outfielder (minimum of 4) is allowed in front to this line until the ball is hit. if this is violated the offensive team
has the option of taking the result of the play or an award of 1 base to the batter and all runners.
No outfielder may make a force out on the batter/baserunner at first base
  A batter is out and ejected if he/she enters the batters box with a non-approved bat; the coach or manager is also ejected;
  A few wording changes on the committment line; (if you touch the commitment line with any part of your body

  ROSTER:  Minimum age is EIGHTEEN (18) as of MAY 1, 2012
  Last date for Player Registration (Received at CSPL office by): JULY 1, 2012
  UNIFORM DEADLINE: All players must be in uniform (Matching tops, matching pants optional): June 1, 2012
  MASTERS AGE +35: Player MUST turn 35 years of age, on or before DECEMBER 31, 2012

Any situation/incidents, etc. not covered will be decided by the League
Executive.
  NOTE

Appeals, protests, etc. will be reviewed by the League Executive for further
action. Only Team Representatives, Umpires, and Players involved may be in attendance.
  NOTE

Rules will not be updated during the course of the season, unless absolutely
necessary.
  NOTE
E:
Rule additions, changes, deletions, amendments, Constitution/By-Law additions,
changes, deletions, amendments must be forwarded to the League Executive, in writing,
and must have the signed approval/support of at least TWO (2) other Team Representatives.
   
  THE
GAME:
  All
games will be SEVEN (7) innings, or ONE (1) HOUR or no NEW inning will start after
sixty-five (65) minutes. Once an inning starts it must be completed. TIE games
are possible. FOUR (4) complete innings are required for a game (3 1/2, if Home
team is ahead). Incomplete games will be re-played from the start..
  YOU
WILL PLAY “RAIN” or “SHINE”. PLEASE SHOW-UP.
  Umpire
will decide if game can be played
  GRACE
period of TEN (10) MINUTES will be allowed for the FIRST (1st) game, of the evening,
ONLY.
  ALL
SUBSEQUENT games will start on time. Grace period reduces game time. (Bases MUST
be placed by Default time);
  Starting
time of the SECOND (2nd) game of Double-header will be decided by the UMPIRE (usually
FIVE (5) minutes), if FIRST game was played. In the case of a default game, the
team in default will have THIRTY (30) minutes, (from time of default) in which
to obtain the required minimum number of players, for the SECOND (2nd) game.
  SECOND
(2nd) game will start 30 minutes after the first Default game, or until the DEFAULT
team has sufficient players to start a game, whichever comes first.
Start
times may vary depending on diamond and/or permit times. Check Schedule
   
  POINT
STRUCTURE:
  WIN
– TWO (2) POINTS; TIE — ONE (1) POINT; LOSS — ZERO (0) POINTS
   
  LINE-UP:
MENS, WOMENS, COED, MASTERS,SENIORS
  Each
team MUST register at least NINE (9) players in the batting order.
It is
NOT required that all players available to play be listed in the batting order.Players NOT in the STARTING batting order MAY ENTER the game as a SUBSTITUTE
or COURTESY RUNNER only. When a player enters the game as a substitute, the RE-ENTRY
rule will apply, to the ORIGINAL (STARTING) players ONLY. DOES NOT apply to the
SUBSTITUTE. Any ORIGINAL (STARTING) player may be removed from the batting order
and replaced by a SUBSTITUTE, and have the right to RE-ENTER the game, ONCE only.
The RE-ENTERED player must occupy the same initial position in the batting order.
The SUBSTITUTE is removed from the game and may NOT return to the batting order
or field, but may be a COURTESY RUNNER.
Only players in the batting order
may field. Unrestricted substitution of players, in the batting order, in the
field.
Maximum TEN (10) defensive players on the field at any time.RE-ENTRY may only be used in the batting order or in the field. May not be used
to extend the number of courtesy runners beyond the maximum.
 IF
A PLAYER IS REMOVED FROM THE BATTING ORDER DUE FOR ANY REASON (EXCEPT INJURY)
THEN AN AUTOMATIC OUT WILL BE DECLARED IN THE SPOT EACH TIME THE PLAYER IS DUE
TO BAT.
  Explanation:
  If
you have SIXTEEN (16) players available for play, the batting order may contain
any number of players, from NINE (9) to SIXTEEN (16). If you start with THIRTEEN
(13) players in the batting order, there are THREE (3) players available as SUBSTITUTES.
If you start the game with NINE (9) players, you may NOT increase the batting
order to TEN (10) or more, ONCE the FIRST (1st) batter has batted TWICE.
  COED
 
Lineup – Coed: Five (5) Guys / Five (5) Girls, Minimum four (4) girls to play;
an AUTOMATIC OUT will be declared in missing F batting order spot; no penalty
if batting 5F + 4M. Minimum nine (9) players to play the game. You may start batting
with less; Unlimited batting order. Maximum twenty-two (22) players. Maximum ten
(10) players in the field at any one time.You must have a minimum of nine (9)
players to continue a game; Substitution, in all cases MUST be GUY for GUY, or
GIRL for GUY/GIRL. MAXIMUM FIVE (5) GUYS on field.
  A
team MUST have NINE (9) players, in the field to start or continue a game, if
HOME, or the game is a FORFEIT (Fine will apply). If VISITOR, you may start to
bat with less than NINE (9) players, but if the FIRST (1st) batter is due up before
the NINTH (9th) batter is available, a FORFEIT is declared (Fine will apply).
If you do NOT bat around, you MUST have NINE (9) players, to take the field, else
a FORFEIT is declared (Fine will apply).
IF BOTH TEAMS DO NOT HAVE AT LEAST
NINE (9) PLAYERS, THEN A “DOUBLE DEFAULT” WILL BE DECLARED. (FINE WILL APPLY).UMPIRES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO OFFICIATE ANY GAME THAT IS NOT AN OFFICIAL C.S.P.L.
GAME. 
 
   
  CONDUCT:
  Any
player, coach, manager, team representative, etc. who initiates a fight, an incident,
an altercation, etc. will be ejected immediately from the game and will be suspended
from further League play indefinitely. The Umpire will be required to write a
report on each and every ejection. Each suspension will be reviewed by the LEAGUE
EXECUTIVE to determine the length and type of suspension. The term of the suspension
may be up to and including a permanent suspension. Any team using a SUSPENDED
player, coach, manager, team representative, etc. in any capacity related to the
playing of the game, will forfeit that game(s), and will be assessed further disciplinary
action, which may include SUSPENSION and/or FINE. Any ejection from the FIRST
game of the doubleheader, also applies to the SECOND game.THAT PLAYER/S MUST LEAVE
THE PARK. Failure to do so will result in that teams Forfeit.
  THESE
PENALTIES ARE TO BE VIEWED AS AN AUTOMATIC RULING AND ARE TREATED AS MINIMUMS.
   
  SCORE
LINE:
Will be used in ALL Divisions. (No SLIDING at HOME PLATE. TAGGING IS
PERMITTED).
  DOUBLE
BASE:
Used in “ALL” Division. ONE (1) piece only. NO “SPLIT/FOLDING” bases
allowed, even if joined.
   
  ROSTER:
  A
maximum of TWENTY-TWO (22) players may be registered. Minimum age is EIGHTEEN
(18) as of MAY 1, 2012
All eligible players MUST complete and sign a RELEASE
of LIABILITY & ASSUMPTION of RISK/ROSTER Form and BEFORE participating in
their FIRST (1st) game. Players may play for ONLY ONE (1) Mens team, and ONE (1)
Mens Masters team and ONE (1) COED team.
A copy of the official SPN RELEASE
of LIABILITY & ASSUMPTION of RISK/ROSTER form MUST be submitted to the League
Executive, before a player may participate, in any C.S.P.L. game. Each team MUST
submit form before FIRST (1st) game. Any players signed after FIRST (1st) game
up to the deadline, MUST be added to your retained YELLOW copy, submit form to
the League Executive, prior to the player participating in C.S.P.L. League games.
Retain copy for your records.
YOU MAY NOT SUBMIT FORMS TO THE UMPIRE PRIOR
TO THE GAME.
A copy of the official SPN RELEASE of LIABILITY & ASSUMPTION
of RISK/ROSTER form, MUST be available for inspection, by the umpire, when requested,
if there is any doubt concerning a players’ eligibility. Requests will only be
acted upon, either before the game starts or at the conclusion of the game, NOT
during the game.
BOTH THE TEAM REPRESENTATIVE AND THE UMPIRE HAVE THE AUTHORITY
TO REQUESTY THAT ANY PLAYER PRODUCE PROOF OF ELIGIBILITY. ADDITIONAL PROOF MAY
BE REQUIRED (ie. LICENSE, etc.).
FAILURE TO PRODUCE THE APPROPRIATE PROOF
WOULD RESULT IN THE PLAYER BEING IN-ELIGIBLE FOR THE GAME, IF CHALLENGED PRIOR
TO THE START OF THE GAME. ANY PLAYER PARTICIPATING IN A GAME WITHOUT APPROPRIATE
PROOF OF REGISTRATION, IS AN IN-ELIGIBLE PLAYER; WHICH MEANS YOU LOSE THE GAME(S),
AND BOTH THE PLAYER AND TEAM MAY BE SUBJECT TO ADDITIONAL DISCIPLINE.
   
  LAST
DATE OF PLAYER REGISTRATION: JUNE 30, 2012
  THE
LEAGUE EXECUTIVE WISHES TO CAUTION TEAM REPRESENTATIVES FROM INDISCRIMINATE APPLICATION
OF THE PLAYER REGISTRATION RULE. ANY OVER ZEALOUS DEMANDS, UPON PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
WILL BE DEALT WITH BY THE LEAGUE EXECUTIVE.
   
  HOME
TEAM:
  The
team designated as HOME, is the first TEAM number listed on the schedule. The
HOME team has the choice of HOME in either the FIRST (1st) or SECOND (2nd) game.
The HOME team is responsible for placing of bases for both games of the double-header.
Bases MUST be of regulation size, and in good condition,or not damaged with pegs; they are to be measured and secured
at the proper distance, by game time (up to and including Grace ). Any team scheduled
to place the bases and NOT able to supply bases will be assessed the appropriate
forfeit fine, even if the game is played with bases, supplied by another team.
If bases can not be obtained, it is the HOME teams responsibility to get bases,
before the next game (30 minutes) or forfeit the second game. Bases
MUST be placed by Game Time (up to and including Grace period, if allowed)IT IS SUGGESTED THAT EACH TEAM “ALWAYS” HAVE AVAILABLE THEIR BASES, IN THE EVENT
THAT THE “HOME” TEAM CAN NOT SUPPLY BASES.
Each team MUST supply ONE (1)
“NEW” and ONE (1) GOOD “USED” ball for ONE of the TWO (2) games of the doubleheader.
Balls will be returned at the end of the game. 
 
  APPROVED
BALL:

WORTH YELLOW 12″ “HOT DOT” Suitability
of the balls will be in the Umpire’s judgment.WOMENS 11″ GREEN DOT
  FORFEIT
BOND:

Each team will be required to post a bond (refundable at the end
of the season, if NOT used). A forfeit charge will be deducted from the bond as
follows: MENS: $100.00 per game (2 games); COED & WOMENS: $50.00 per game
(2 games)
Teams with any default penalties or other charges will be required
to post additional forfeit bond amounts, as determined by the League Executive,
based upon individual circumstances.
  GAME
SCHEDULE:

Each team is given a copy of the schedule, prior to the start
of the season, for the complete season covering regular season and play-offs.
The policy of CSPL is NOT to re-schedule games once the schedule has been distributed.
Teams are given the opportunity to request except dates, by completing a Schedule
Consideration form (yellow) prior to the publication of the schedule. Any team
unable to play a scheduled game will be given a loss and may be subject to default
fine(s). If you are unable to field a team for any reason, you MUST advise the
League Executive, at least 36 hours prior to scheduled game TIME AND DATE.
  BASE-RUNNING:
 ANTICIPATION STEP is permitted. May leave bag, once ball crosses plate.
  BALLS
and STRIKES:

The Umpire will call BALLS and STRIKES. THIRD strike FOUL
rule is in effect. The batter is OUT.
  GROUND
RULES:

FENCED PARKS- In all cases, where a field is limited by an outfield
fence, in fair territory; a HOME-RUN will be awarded, if a FAIR ball clears the
fence, without touching the ground. Any FAIR ball hitting, but NOT clearing the
fence will be LIVE and is in play and runners may advance at their own risk.
  UNIFORM: ALL players, coaches, managers, team representatives, etc. while on the field
MUST wear  Matching TOPS must
be worn. Matching will be defined as “having the same body colour and shade, and
the same sleeve colour and shade”. The BODY and SLEEVE colour do NOT have to be
the same. Stripes will NOT be interpreted as a colour and should be ignored, when
determining if uniforms match.
Players NOT wearing the correct team uniform,
as defined above, WILL be permitted to participate in the game, a fine will be
assessed to the offending team. Fine will be deducted from the DEFAULT bond. Umpire
will report Team Name and Player Name to League Office when reporting scores.
Each player NOT in uniform will be treated as a separate violation. (THREE players
out of uniform means THREE fines).
UNIFORM FINE will be FIFTEEN ($15.00)
each violation. Subsequent or repeat offenders may result in additional penalties,
as determined by the League Executive. 
 
  UNIFORM
DEADLINE…..JUNE 1, 2012

Exceptions: In certain cases, the League Executive
recognizes that uniforms may be delayed or can not be obtained due to size or
availability. In these cases, the team representative MUST advise the League Executive,
of the specific details of their situation, to obtain an exemption.
IT IS
RECOMMENDED THAT EACH TEAM REPRESENTATIVE KEEP ON-HAND, EXTRA UNIFORMS, IN THE
CASE OF EMERGENCIES, TO PREVENT THE ASSESSMENT OF A UNIFORM FINE.
  MERCY
RULE: SPN RULE BOOK

RUN RULE:
ALL DIVISIONS.
IN ALL MENS,WOMENS,COED,MASTERS AND SENIORS,A 6 RUN RULE WILL BE USED IN EACH
INNING EXCEPT WHEN AN INNING IS DECLARED AN “OPEN-RUN” INNING BY THE
UMPIRE.
  COURTESY
RUNNERS:

All Divisions MAXIMUM SEVEN (7) courtesy runners per game Anytime,
NO maximum per inning. Each courtesy runner MUST be a different person. No person
can be used as a runner more than once per game, except in the case, of “SUBSTITUTE
RUNNER” due to an injury, on the play. In this case it MUST be the LAST RUNNER
OUT. If last runner OUT is on base, revert to last runner out in sequence. Courtesy
runner may be used for a courtesy runner.
“SENIORS
DIVISION IS UNLIMITED COURTESY RUNNERS A GAME (NOTE A RUNNER MAY ONLY RUN ONCE
PER INNING)”
  HOMERUN
RULE: ” 2 HOME RUNS PER GAME”

Homerun Rule (which clears a fenced
park) per team, per game. All others will be treated as an OUT.
  PROTESTS:

A FIFTY ($50.00) DOLLAR fee must accompany each protest. The protest
fee will be refunded, if the protest is upheld. Protests MUST be in WRITING and
MUST be received by the League Executive within TWENTY-FOUR (24) HOURS, of the
game (working day; excluding Saturday, Sunday and Holidays). UMPIRE and the OPPOSING
team MUST be notified, at the time of the protest and both the Umpire and the
opposing team MUST sign the game sheet.
  RAIN-OUT
POLICY:

All teams are required to show-up at Diamond regardless of weather.
If the first series of games is canceled, at least one (1) umpire will remain
at the diamond until a representative from each team is present, at which time
the umpire will decide on the suitability of play. Umpire(s) have the final decision
on the suitability of the field conditions. Failure to show-up will result in
a default fine.
Do NOT call the League to determine if games are cancelled
Check CSPL Web site up until 4 p.m. . You MUST show-up at diamond. If Rain
Out on Doulble Hitters a Win to each team. If first game is Played and second
is rain-out then a split (one point each). RAIN OUTS WILL NOT BE RESCHEDULED.
  PLAYOFFS:

Each Division will determine a CHAMPION. There will be NO World Series
(Division vs. Division). Play-off format and schedule may vary depending on number
of teams and structure in each Division. The schedule will detail play-off format
and dates/diamonds.  Best TWO (2) of THREE (3) . *** may be changed subject to
League Executive decision.
In ALL play-off series, the team with the HIGHER
League Standing will have the choice of FIRST game HOME/VISITOR decision. Each
subsequent game will alternate the HOME/VISITOR decision. The HOME team, for each
game MUST supply TWO (2) “NEW” balls. The team with the HIGHER League Standing
MUST place bases for ALL play-off games, in the series (both SEMI and FINAL).
  TIE
BREAKING FORMULA:
If teams in League Standings are tied in points:1. MOST WINS; 2. LEAST LOSSES; 3. RECORD AGAINST EACH OTHER DURING SEASONY; 4.
BEST Plus/Minus RUNS IN GAMES with TIED TEAMS; 5. MOST RUNS SCORED IN GAMES with
TIED TEAMS; 6. LEAST RUNS ALLOWED IN GAMES WITH TIED TEAMS; 7. ONE (1) Game Play-Down
(1st or elimination from play-offs); 8. Flip of Coin (2nd; 3rd; 4th) 
 
  IN
PLAY-OFFS (SEMI and FINAL SERIES), “ALL TEAMS MUST BE PREPARED TO PLAY, ANY NIGHT
OF THE WEEK, REGARDLESS OF THE NIGHTS, THAT YOU USUALLY PLAYED DURING THE SEASON”.
THIS MUST AND WILL BE ENFORCED, SO ADVISE YOUR PLAYERS, BEFORE THE PLAY-OFFS.
  SEMI
FINALS:

TIME LIMIT (90 minutes) AND MERCY RULE WILL BE IN EFFECT FOR ALL “SEMI-FINAL”
GAMES. ANY “SUSPENDED” GAME WILL CONTINUE FROM WHERE HALTED (SCORE/OUTS/LINE-UP).
IF MORE THAN FOUR (4) INNINGS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED; OTHERWISE GAME IS TO BE RE-PLAYED
AS NEW GAME.
  FINALS:
 MERCY RULE WILL BE IN EFFECT (90 minutes) TIME LIMIT IN ALL “FINAL” . ANY
GAME WITH LESS THAN FOUR (4) COMPLETE INNINGS WILL BE RE-PLAYED (AS A NEW GAME).
ALL GAMES WITH FOUR (4) COMPLETE INNINGS OR MORE WILL CONTINUE FROM WHERE HALTED
(SCORE/OUTS/LINE-UP).
ALL PLAY-OFF GAMES “MUST” BE PLAYED TO A WINNER. –
NO TIES **
In a “TIE” game, the International Tie-Breaker will be in effect.
